Landscape Design Fundamentals
This course is offered evenings at Pacific Design Academy, 1252 Wharf St, Victoria, BC. Participants will learn the fundamental steps and considerations in landscape design. Existing landscape designers may use the course as a refresher and as an opportunity to hone design, drafting and drawing skills.
The schedule is Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 PM, Feb 1 to Mar 9 (6 weeks).
Course description:
This course will introduce the design process for anyone currently in a landscape-related position, and for property owners wishing to create their own landscape upgrades. Simple steps from ideas to how-to’s will be explored, and will include planning, design considerations, plant material, and construction techniques. Participants will be able to work with a specific property of their own, or with a provided sample lot and client. The course will provide in-depth knowledge of the design process, including site evaluation and analysis, design theory, function and spatial delineation, and concept development, along with understanding soils and plant material, followed by basic construction techniques. No previous design, drawing/drafting, or CAD experience is required.
